28 January 2023 for the first time among students of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the competition of creative solutions “Hackathon of universal design” was held for the first time, where they were asked to solve real problems of designing an accessible environment. Experts with disabilities acted as consultants.
The jury consisted of competent people: Andrey Bulanov, jury chairman, Natalya Zimina, lecturer at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Oleg Belyakov, NNGASU graduate.
Hackathon - competition, in which teams need to find a solution in a short time. The premises of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Public Organization of the Disabled "Invatur" became the site under design.
“Accessible environment is an important component of the socialization of people with disabilities. We want, so that not only our office becomes more convenient for employees, and for visitors with disabilities, but also in the future, thanks to you, a high-quality barrier-free environment was created”, – Addressed the participants of the competition chairman Andrey Bulanov.
The contestants were divided into six teams. They had to design accessibility at the entrance of the office, conference hall, bathroom, workshop.
The children actively and enthusiastically plunged into the design process. Need to mark, that everyone coped with the tasks and presented very interesting solutions for the accessibility of our premises Invatur. Sure, there were mistakes on their part, but they are still learning..
In the end, three teams won., taking first, second and third places. The awards ceremony will take place later..
The competition was held within the framework of the project "Accessible environment and other days of the week", supported by the Presidential Grants Fund.
