He grew up in an empty peripheral territory that was previously unoccupied, but surrounded by socially significant buildings (prison and people's house) and locations (rally of revolution 1905 of the year). The historical footprint in it is firmly fixed by the erection of a monument to the heroes and victims of the revolution on the central site – at the intersection of the axes of the facades of the prison and the opera house, what makes the square a part of the architectural and urban planning composition. The natural landscape includes row plantings of trees, along the entire length of the square, the relief difference is about 8 meters. On both sides of the site there are intensively working public transport stops, which includes the square in the structure of transit pedestrian paths. In the future, it is planned to increase pedestrian traffic flows in connection with the existing plans for placement in the immediate vicinity of the metro station “Opera theatre”.

Street of Culture 1 part
Kultury Street appeared more than a hundred years ago - even before Sormovo became part of Nizhny Novgorod. It was called "8th and 9th lines “Sands”» (this part of Sormov was called at that time "Sands". - Note. ed.). She was built up alone- and two-story wooden houses.
In the XX century, the street received a new sonorous name - Culture - and a new impetus in development. Finding traces of wooden buildings here is now almost impossible. But full of high-rise buildings, shops and even a preserved piece of the so-called "people's construction".
