Nizhny Novgorod residents win the festival for people with disabilities in Sochi

The head of the region emphasized, that one of the directions of the current program in the Nizhny Novgorod region “accessible Environment” Is the adaptation of sports institutions to the needs of people with disabilities and limited mobility groups of the population.

“Since the beginning of the program, we have retrofitted 23 institutions: stairwells have been reequipped in them, ramps, bathrooms, swimming pool lifts purchased”, - said Gleb Nikitin.

According to official data, more than 30 thousand disabled, have no contraindications for physical education and sports. According to the state program “Development of physical culture and sports in the Nizhny Novgorod region” to 2021 year the proportion of people with disabilities and people with disabilities, systematically involved in sports, must exceed 25%.

“Our region has created a good base for physical education for people with disabilities. We have built 38 FOKov, partially adapted for disabled people. FROM 2012 year number of institutions, working with people with limited mobility, doubled”, - added Gleb Nikitin.
