In the organization "Invatur" 28 september 2021 the lecture "Traditions of the Russian Orthodox Icon". This is the final event of the "Birth of the Image" project, winner of the small grants competition "Orthodox Initiative".
IN 2006 year in the Nizhny Novgorod regional public organization “Invatur” with the support of the Orthodox Charitable Foundation of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov, a workshop for the manufacture of icons for the blind was organized. Masters, themselves moving in a wheelchair, made tactile icons from artificial stone, which were then passed on to the visually impaired. Life has shown the relevance of this work. Tactile icon helps the visually impaired person to see the image with their fingertips.
Now in the workshop of the NROOI “Invatur” new numerical control equipment appeared, which allows you to make wood products. So the idea arose to repeat the project using new technologies., всего за три месяца собрана команда, training conducted, проработаны десять 3-D моделей рельефных икон, samples made. And work began with the consecration of the workshop premises, equipment, pilgrimage trip to the village of Vladimirskoe, to the lake Svetloyar.
The participants of the project gathered for the lecture, workshop staff and guests - members of the All-Russian Society of the Blind, who acted as experts, assessed the tactility of the image. The guys talked about the history and traditions of the embossed Russian Orthodox icon, features of the image of the Theotokos icons. Icons, made within the framework of the project, intended for transfer to rehabilitation institutions, public organizations, needy people with visual disabilities.
