Happy World Social Work Day!

Every year on the third Tuesday of March is celebrated World Social Work Day (World Day of Social Work). The initiators and organizers of this professional holiday, uniting representatives of social work, in 1983 performed this year: International Federation of Social Workers (The International Federation of Social Workers, IFSW) and International Association of Schools of Social Work (The International Association of Schools of Social Work, IASSW).

The initiative was supported by the International Social Security Council, as well as national state and non-state social organizations and institutions in more than 140 countries of the world. Russia’s participation in the celebration of this day and the implementation of international social programs is carried out thanks to the coordinating functions of the Union of Social Educators and Social Workers of the Russian Federation.

The tasks of social work at the international level include: exchange of experience between structures and representatives of different states on issues of social work and social policy, organization of work based on international standards and legal norms, as well as participation in the development of the social direction of international politics.

Social work is very multifaceted and covers various categories and groups of the population, what determines its direction. The main task of social work is to ensure a certain level and quality of life for citizens through a system of social support and protection measures..

Dividing the focus of social work allows you to build programs, working methods, as well as ways to protect and assist in the implementation of rights for each specific category of citizens, in need of help and support. These areas include: working with children, families, disabled people, pensioners, veterans, people with limited financial resources (low-income), children, found themselves in difficult life situations, homeless people, etc.. This list is far from complete. He just shows, how multifaceted social work is, what important social tasks do people perform?, directly related to it.

Support for the older generation and people with disabilities is the hope for every person, that being in such a situation, he will not be left alone with his problem. This is a solution to the fundamental problem of insecurity and helplessness, which anyone can face in their life. And supporting children and families is hope and the key to the future of the state. It is no coincidence that the law establishes such social institutions, like motherhood, fatherhood and childhood under state protection.

Getting the attention of governments, government agencies around the world to prevent social insecurity, overcoming social problems every year, every third Tuesday in March takes on an international character, When is World Social Work Day celebrated?, which every year is dedicated to a specific topic.

In all institutions, Bodies and organizations of the social work system carry out activities, dedicated to the problems of the field of activity, achievements and success in overcoming these problems. Local, round tables are held at the regional and national levels, conferences, seminars, concerts and other events. The successes of individual employees are celebrated here, there is an exchange of experience between organizations and structures of social protection authorities.

It is also important to remember that, that social work is difficult, it requires enormous patience from workers, endurance and professionalism, because its focus is people; people with their own character, mood, health status, and also problems, that we need to help them solve.
