Competitions were held with 10 by 16 August on the rowing channel “Krylatskoe” in Moscow. More than 300 strongest athletes from 30 regions of the country. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants and spectators.
“The traditional presidential regatta is always big, a long-awaited event for lovers of this spectacular sport. Gratifying, what it unites again in Moscow, on the rowing channel in “Krylatsky”, strong, talented athletes from different countries, which in the coming days will have to demonstrate skill and team cohesion, show character and will”, - said in the address of the President of the Russian Federation.
Nizhny Novgorod athletes with disabilities also took part in the competition. So, Artem Voronkov and Roman Serebryakov won gold at a distance 200 m among persons with a lesion of the musculoskeletal system.
Also, rowers from Nizhny Novgorod achieved success at the Russian Championship. Yuri Postrigai became the first in the distance 200 m in arrivals of twos, and Artem Voronkov and Roman Serebryakov won gold.
The regional ministry of sports noted, that these competitions are qualifying for the national team.
“The start at the competition has become indicative for our athletes, it is the result of their individual training during self-isolation and preparatory training, which began in just 1,5 months before the start of the tournament. In the near future, given a favorable epidemiological situation, they are scheduled to participate in the World Cup in Hungary at the end of September and in October at the European Championship in Romania”, – noted the kayak and canoe coach Sergey Kosilov.
