More and more tourists come to Nizhny Novgorod, some of them also have guests with disabilities. Members of NROOOI "Invatur" decided to check in practice, where guests can dine, moving in a wheelchair.
Participants of the expedition "Let's try to eat" started from the National Unity Square. Checked minimum requirements: entrance accessibility, comfortable dining room, adapted bathroom. Unfortunately, not a single cafe or restaurant was found on the route to Markina Square, fully meeting all requirements. Experts drew attention, that the summer verandas of some establishments were built without taking into account the possibility of visiting them by people with limited mobility.
Of all the checked cafes, the most convenient was chosen, in which the expedition members were able to dine.
The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Public Organization of the Disabled "Invatur" is implementing the project "Accessible. Hospitably", supported by "Team 800". Guided tours of the historical places of the city for groups of tourists with limited mobility, who came from different regions of our country.
“Our city is very popular with guests, that celebrate the beauty of the city, accessibility of tourist facilities, hospitality of Nizhny Novgorod. However, there is also the problem of catering, availability of cafes and restaurants", – Andrey Bulanov, Chairman NROOI "Invatur".
The materials of the expedition will be used in discussions with specialists in the field of tourism of the results of the project “Available. Hospitably", implemented with the support of "Team 800".
