5 september, by decision, adopted by the 67th session of the UN General Assembly in December 2012 of the year , International Day of Charity is held annually. Hungary took the initiative to set this date . For the first time, International Day of Charity was celebrated in 2013 year .
The date coincides with the anniversary of the death of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate 1979 of the year “for activities to help a suffering person” Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whose selfless activities in India and other countries of the world made a significant contribution to the development of charity and overcoming poverty on the planet.
Charity is predominantly impersonal in nature and even in cases of individual undertakings it has in mind socially significant tasks. The goals of charity go beyond the interests of family and friends, such activities do not involve making a profit, not dictated by administrative orders.
Charity, as well as volunteerism and philanthropy, brings people together and helps create inclusive and more sustainable societies. Charity complements government activities in the healthcare sector, education, housing construction and population protection, contributes to the development of culture, science, sports and ensures environmental protection.
