Nizhny Novgorod invalids won at the festival of culture and sports in Sochi

First place at the X open festival of culture and sports "Para-Art" for people with disabilities, which took place in the city of Sochi, won by the team of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the organization of disabled people "Invatur".

The trip of the Nizhny Novgorod team was organized within the framework of the project "Adaptive sports for active people", who won the competition for charitable projects of the engineering division of the Rosatom state corporation.

Participants in sports competitions from the Nizhny Novgorod and Chelyabinsk regions, from Donetsk, from Sakhalin and from Yakutia demonstrated their talents during the week. Athletes with disabilities competed in such disciplines, as

  • barrel,
  • darts,
  • table tennis,
  • trail orientation,
  • checkers.

Nizhniy Novgorod got the first command place and the cup.

The organization "Invatur" reported, that a round table was also held at the Para-Art festival, dedicated to the implementation of the "Accessible Environment" program, attended by representatives of different regions, discussing common issues for people with disabilities with experts.

- I congratulate the team "Invatura" on the victory and express my gratitude to the organizers of the festival "Para-Art". It is these events that allow us to form, develop an accessible environment for people with disabilities, give them the opportunity to lead an active lifestyle, to communicate, show your talents,

- said the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin.

He stressed, that one of the directions of the "Accessible Environment" program operating in the region is adaptation to the needs of people with disabilities and limited mobility groups of the population of sports institutions.

- Since the beginning of the program, we have retrofitted 23 institutions: stairwells have been reequipped in them, ramps, bathrooms, swimming pool lifts purchased,

- noted the head of the region.

In the region, according to official information, live over 30 thousand disabled, which have no contraindications for physical education and sports. According to the state program "Development of physical culture and sports in the Nizhny Novgorod region", the proportion of people with disabilities, who play sports systematically, to 2021 year must exceed 25 %.

- A good base for physical education for people with disabilities has been created in our region. We have built 38 FOKov, partially adapted for disabled people. FROM 2012 year number of institutions, working with people with limited mobility, doubled,
