The beginning of May brought a lot of weather surprises. That showers, to grad, and in the north of the region in places even dense snow cover was established! And this must happen., that just by last Sunday miraculously failed! 68-1st track and field relay race for prizes of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, dedicated to Victory Day in World War II, passed under the bright May sun. Spring seemed to be waiting for these long-time-start athletes!

What is government competition, that the autumn relay race for the prizes of the newspaper "Nizhny Novgorod Pravda" has been held for several years in the spirit of a great sports festival, which is far from limited to athletics. On Minin and Pozharsky Square, according to tradition, people gather whole families. In deployed there 14 May, the town could find a variety of entertainment for any age. Special attention, certainly, was riveted to football, because in a year in our city will be held World Cup matches. At a mini-playground, preschool children chased the ball, but for those, who is older, contests were organized. Besides, everyone could “cut themselves” into table football and virtual, on a game console. Oh, what passions were boiling there!
Before the main athletics event, the opening ceremony was held. By good tradition, our wonderful veteran athletes received gifts. A moment of silence, under the beats of the metronome, all gathered honored the memory of those, who did not return from the fronts of World War II. Yulia Sotnikova, bronze medalist of the 2000 Olympics in relay relay race, and Vladimir Shishkin, a participant in the Olympic Games, laid flowers at the Kremlin's memory wall.
The judge’s first starting shot rang out for the participants of the Run 2018, in which champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games took part, leading athletes of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as runners and wheelchair users - representatives of the Invatur public organization. Last, naturally, were rewarded at the finish with loud applause.

In the athletics race, participants in the corporate relay race were colorfully represented. The spirit of competition at a distance was no less, than the pros of their field. And how emotional was the race on the so-called runbikes! Kids 2 – 5 years looked like real bikers - in helmets, in protective equipment for arms and legs. And how do you like? All serious!
Among the newcomers to the relay race are representatives of the Tonkin High School. The guys, together with their physical education teacher Igor Orlov, woke up on a weekend, to overcome on the bus 250 kilometers to Nizhny Novgorod. Let the northerners not get into the winners, debut still satisfied.
- There were problems with the preparation for the run, - complains Igor Yuryevich. - Now we are dismantling the stadium, a new school is under construction, therefore, while we are only engaged in the hall. We do not have professional athletes, all the guys run at a purely amateur level. In fact, at the present time it is difficult to motivate children to do some serious work. In a sharp fight the prize of memory of a professor of medicine, the honored master of sports Mikhail Kolokoltsev was won by the representative of the automobile complex integrated sports school № 1 Ivan Shapaev.
- For a long time I did not run at zero stages, - said the winner, whom the wife and son Artyom were waiting at the finish line. - worried, of course, as I tuned in to victory. Usually my teammate Alexander Abramov opens the baton, but this year at the selection I managed to get ahead of him. Here, in the square, the coach advised me to immediately take the lead.
