In d. Барнауле (Altai region) from 26 April to 5 мая проходил Чемпионат России по шахматам и шашкам среди лиц с ПОДА (musculoskeletal injury). At the start of the competition 45 шахматистов из 17 регионов страны и 34 шашиста из 13 regions of the country (Moscow, Татарстан, Крым, Мордовия, Ханты-Мансийский автономный округ, Вологодская, Ленинградская, Nizhny Novgorod, Пензенская, Саратовская, Sverdlovskaya, Смоленская, Томская, Челябинская, Ярославская, Московская области, Пермский и Алтайский край).
В Чемпионате приняли участие два спортсмена из Нижегородской области. Mikhail Shcheltsyn (Nizhny Novgorod) — 10 место из 34-х (9-e place from 21 among men) — (10 points) и Светлана Потылицына (Nizhny Novgorod) — 26 место из 34-х (10-e place from 13 среди женщин) — (8 points).
В командном зачете сборная Нижегородской области с 18 очками заняла 9-е место из 11 teams. Sports chess for persons with PAD is a non-Paralympic sport. Competitions are held according to the rules of the International Chess Federation for Persons with Disabilities (IPCA). Athletes are allowed to use the help of an assistant during the game. Checkers sport for persons with a musculoskeletal injury - a board game for two players, which consists in moving checkers in a certain way along the cells of the checkerboard. The sport is not included in the program of the Paralympic Games.
