At the stadium "Nizhny Novgorod" 14 may 2021 government officials, sports and rehabilitation specialists, activists of public organizations discussed the problems and prospects for the development of adaptive sports in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The initiator and organizer of the conference "Accessible Movement" was the Nizhny Novgorod regional public organization of disabled people "Invatur", celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beginning of its activities.
Before the start of the event, a demonstration training was held for para-athletes in wheelchair basketball.. Organization "Invatur" actively develops such types of adaptive sports, like boccia, accurate orientation, attracts to regular physical education, healthy lifestyle of people with disabilities.
One of the issues discussed is the availability of sports facilities for people with limited mobility.. Leading expert in this field, Professor of the Russian International Olympic University Lev Gutman spoke about modern requirements for ensuring the right of people with disabilities to physical education and sports. Solving this problem requires the joint efforts of the state., business, public organizations.
Regional Ombudsman Oksana Kislitsyna acted as an expert on creating an accessible environment. “In recent years, at the federal, regional and municipal levels have done a lot to integrate people with disabilities into everyday life. The active involvement of non-profit organizations in this work indicates that, that the initiatives of the state are also supported by civil society ", – believes the Nizhny Novgorod Commissioner.
For active work on the social integration of people with disabilities and in connection with the 25th anniversary of the organization, three employees of the NROOI "Invatur" received a commendation from the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Panel discussion participants discussed the problem of adaptive sports development, prospects for the development of winter types of parasport, lack of qualified coaching staff.
