Alexander Demin in the BLOG-POST program: Lower - city of unequal opportunities

We are the inhabitants of one city. We are different, and for each of us this city is different. But everyone should have the same opportunities..

Alexander Demin, leading, blogger:

– This topic is not easy to discuss., for many, even unpleasant, and therefore we sometimes pretend, that it does not concern us. Today, our guests are representatives of another, for many, of the world. Bright, active, bold, known for their social activities. Let's start right away with a direct question - what is the best way to call you?

Svetlana Kupolova, consultant NROOI "Invatur":

– This is a very good question., because you have to hear different things. Including, eg, sick. A patient is a person, eg, with temperature, who needs treatment. A man, which one, let's say, no hand, what treatment does he need? Regarding the word disabled, I prefer the phrase "person with disabilities". Understand the difference? Man comes first - because we are people, first of all. Person with disabilities, man with brown eyes, man with a suitcase. While using the word invalid turns out, what are people, but there are people with disabilities, which seem to be no longer quite people.

Alexander Demin:

– Until today, I have not thought about mobility.. And only now, when we raised the stroller with Svetlana to us on 5 floor, I realized, what is the problem. The elevator was narrow for a stroller, And we, four adult men, dragged her upstairs. It was very hard. And now I understand, what is the problem for a person - just leave the house.

Svetlana Kupolova:

– I'm afraid, that you can’t imagine it. I got disability as a result of an accident 17 years ago. Of them 8 years I stayed at home, on 4 Khrushchev's floor without elevator and ramps, in an apartment without a balcony. And those moments, when they put me in the hospital, were the happiest for me - I ended up in the real world, could see people, to communicate, move. I got freedom! Therefore, I reported with enthusiasm about the next hospitalization to my friends, than always amazed them.

You just put yourself in our place for a minute. Imagine: at first you cannot leave the apartment, because the narrow door. No ramp or stroller fits in the elevator - you cannot go down. If you are on the street, you cannot go to the store, because there is no ramp. And instead, to buy food, вы любуетесь на her через окно. And you also cannot go to another store - public transport is not intended for your transportation.

Alexander Demin:

– By the way, about transport. About you, Svetlana, I found out, when did you start the fight with auto-hums, Disabled parking facilities. Your videos on social networks have caused a great resonance. Probably, I will not reveal a secret: many motorists consider, that we don’t have so many disabled motorists, how many parking lots are allocated for them in the shopping center.

Svetlana Kupolova:

– In fact, according to the regulations of parking spaces for disabled people should be 10%. They are just concentrated in front of the entrance., therefore it seems, that there are a lot of them. And before the entrance they are for an obvious reason. If you pass 10-20-100 meters is not difficult, then for a person with disabilities, every meter can be a test. I really hope, that society will gradually begin to treat people with disabilities as equals, then all questions on creating a barrier-free environment will disappear - it will become natural and the only possible for everyone.
