Representatives of Invatur Dmitry Balykin, organization lawyer, Andrey Bulanov, chairman, and Irina Balykina, public relations specialist 17 May took part in the 2nd focus group, organized by NROORDIZ "Perspektiva". Purpose of this meeting – discussion of the possibilities of access to public transport for deaf-blind and blind people in Nizhny Novgorod.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the main carriers in Nizhny Novgorod – transport companies of electric transport and subway. Problems have been identified, experienced by blind and deaf-blind residents of Nizhny Novgorod when using public transport, namely, improper parking of vehicles and trolleybuses near stopping points, incorrect schedule and its display on information resources, difficulty paying fares, if the conductor is absent and others.
Representatives of transport companies expressed a great desire to find out all the technical possibilities for ensuring accessibility for visually impaired passengers, as well as visually impaired citizens, for which it is relevant how the electronic scoreboard looks at the bus stop and on the vehicle itself, color, font size, fonts and color contrast.
In some regions, the "Talking City" system works, discussed the experience of its application and whether it is possible to implement it in our region.
